Taking VPN Club on a trip

Travel puts you on networks you know nothing about, from the airport lounge to the hotel room. VPN Club encrypts what your devices send on them, and when a service only works from home, you can connect to a server there.

Set it up at home

Install VPN Club before the trip, while your connection is reliable. The apps are on your dashboard once you have bought a plan.

Sign in on each device you are packing and connect once to check it works. Every plan covers several devices at the same time, so your phone and laptop can both stay protected.

  • Buy a plan and open the Downloads tab in your dashboard
  • Install the app on each device and sign in with your VPN Club ID and password
  • Switch on Settings > Connection > Kill switch

Check the local rules

VPN use is limited or banned in some countries. Look up the rules for your destination before you go, and follow them.

Where VPN traffic is filtered, OpenVPN TCP sometimes connects when other protocols fail. We cannot guarantee a connection on every network.

Wi-Fi at hotels and airports

Hotel and airport networks are often open, or everyone gets the same password. Connect to VPN Club as soon as you are online so app traffic is encrypted from the start.

Some of these networks show a sign-in page first. Accept it with the VPN off, then connect to VPN Club. If the connection still fails, change the protocol to OpenVPN TCP.

Reaching services back home

Banking apps, government sites and some local services may block a login from a foreign IP or ask for extra checks. A server in your home country makes you appear to be at home.

For services that check your device closely, stick to one server. Pro comes with a dedicated IP in one of 10 countries, so you get the same address on every trip.

Common questions

Can I download the app while I am abroad?

Yes. Once you have a plan, the apps are on your dashboard wherever you are. Installing before you leave is still easier.

My bank blocks me when I log in from abroad.

Try a server in your home country. If that is not enough, the dedicated IP on Pro gives you one fixed address.

Can I use a VPN in any country?

No. Some countries restrict VPN use. Check the local law before you travel.
