How the ad and tracker filter works
Ads and tracking scripts usually come from addresses separate from the page you are reading. With the filter on, VPN Club refuses requests to known ad and tracking addresses, so that content never arrives on your device.
The result is calmer pages and fewer companies building a profile of you across sites. It also works inside apps, since it does not depend on a browser extension.
The malicious site filter
This filter blocks connections to addresses known for phishing or malware. Tap a bad link in a text message or an ad, and the page simply does not load.
Lists of bad sites are never complete, and brand new ones can slip past. Think of the filter as an extra layer, and keep installing system and app updates.
When a page breaks
Once in a while a site needs a script that looks like a tracker, and a button or sign-in form stops responding. Switch off the ad and tracker filter, reload the page, and see if it helps.
If it does, use the site with the filter off and switch it back on when you are done. The malicious site filter rarely causes this, so you can leave it running.
Switching the filters on
Both filters come with Plus and Pro, each with its own switch. You can run one, the other, or both.
They only work while VPN Club is connected. Apps you left out with split tunneling are not filtered.
- In the VPN Club app, open Settings > Protection
- Turn on Ad and tracker blocking, Malicious site blocking, or both
- If you were already connected, reconnect
