Typical cases
Some services expect your real location. Local bank apps, food delivery apps and devices on your home network, like a printer or a smart TV, often behave better outside the VPN.
It also helps when you want to divide the load. A big game update or a video call can use the direct line while your browser stays on VPN Club. Others go the opposite way and protect a single browser only.
Two ways to set the list
Exclude mode: the apps on your list skip the VPN, and everything else goes through the tunnel. This suits people who want the device protected by default.
Include mode: only the apps on your list use the VPN, and everything else connects directly. Pick whichever mode gives you the shorter list, since that is easier to keep track of.
Before you exclude an app
An app outside the tunnel uses your real IP address and its traffic is not encrypted by VPN Club. Only exclude apps where that is acceptable to you.
The kill switch covers apps inside the tunnel. Excluded apps keep running on your regular connection even when the VPN drops. Menu labels can differ slightly between devices.
Setting it up
Split tunneling comes with Basic, Plus and Pro. You choose a mode and pick apps from the list of programs installed on the device.
New rules take effect after you reconnect. Restart any app that was already open so its current connections follow the new route.
- In the VPN Club app, open Settings > Split tunneling
- Pick a mode: leave the selected apps out of the VPN, or send only the selected apps through it
- Add apps, then disconnect and connect again
